New rules on entry to Northern Cyprus: 7 days quarantine for all countries

As of 1st of December 2020, the categorisation of countries on Category A, B or C will be cancelled.  Accordingly, everyone, regardless of which country they arrive from, will be required to satisfy the following conditions:

  1. New rules on entry to Northern Cyprus. About quarantine rules and restriction due to COVID-19 pandemicThe person arriving in Northern Cyprus must present a negative PCR test taken within the last 3 days (72 hours) before arriving in Northern Cyprus.
  2. Each person will be quarantined for 7 days in a hotel.
  3. At the end of the quarantine period, the person must take a second PCR test. If the result of the test is negative, the person will be released from quarantine.

You may not be required to stay on quarantine, if you wish to travel to Cyprus for a maximum 3 days. To be exempt from the quarantine, you must:

  • Enter Northern Cyprus via the Ercan airport on a chartered flight.
  • Provide the negative PCR test upon entry to the TRNC.
  • Present return tickets which show departure date within 3 days.
  • Take the second PCR test at the airport.

Anyone wishing to stay in Cyprus longer than 3 days must be quarantined for 7 days in the hotel.

RULES REGARDING CROSSING THE GREEN LINE: QUARANTINE FOR CROSSING FROM THE SOUTH TO THE NORTH

People who reside in the TRNC and study or work in the South must register with the Pandemic Hospital to be able to cross into the Republic of Cyprus.  The registration must be performed until 6th of December 2020. You can find the form on the website of the Ministry of Health www.saglik.gov.ct.tr.

While crossing to South Cyprus, individuals have to present to the Turkish Cypriot police the evidence that they are working or studying in the South, together with the negative PCR test result.

Those who are crossing to the South of Cyprus for the health treatment, education and work will not be a subject of quarantine once they return to Northern Cyprus only if they provide the supporting documents.

In addition, taxi drivers and people who have regular trade or/and business in the Republic of Cyprus and trade under the Green Line Regulation are also the subject to exemption from quarantine upon the return to TRNC.

However, taxi drivers can cross only for the purpose of transporting passengers. For people who cross to the South for purposes of business/trade, to be exempt from the quarantine for 7 days, they must provide supporting evidence of their trade and/or business relationship in the South and cross the check points only during their working hours.

Those who fail to provide supporting documents will be quarantined for 7 days on return to North.
