At Erginel Law Firm, we firmly believe that a legal practice has a responsibility not only to its clients, but also to the wider community it serves. Since our establishment in 1975 by Advocate Peyman Erginel, community engagement and charitable support have formed an integral part of our professional identity.

For over five decades, we have provided legal services to many of the Turkish Republic of Northern Cyprus’ most respected charities, non-governmental organisations, clubs and associations — as well as numerous smaller civil society initiatives. We understand both the practical realities and the financial constraints under which such organisations operate, and we tailor our advice accordingly, including the provision of pro bono services where appropriate.

Our involvement has ranged from serving as Honorary Legal Adviser to the British High Commission, to advising on the legal establishment of the Osman Türkay Foundation (Osman Türkay Vakfı).

• Preparing the Rules establishing the Thalassaemia Society in 1978 and arranging for it to be declared a “Charitable Society”
• Providing continuous legal services to the British Residents Society in North Cyprus since 1980
• Preparing the Rules in 1992 for the establishment of the Society of St Andrew’s, safeguarding the secular interests of St Andrew’s Church
• Drafting and structuring the constitutional Rules of Kyrenia Animal Rescue, the North Cyprus Cancer Charity Trust, and the Royal British Legion (Kyrenia Branch), ensuring their recognition and lawful operation as charitable organisations between 2003 and 2012

In addition, Taner Erginel, Legal Consultant of Erginel Law Firm, was a founding member of the Kyrenia Rehabilitation Centre – Cheshire Home and currently serves as Head of its Disciplinary Committee. He was also among the founders of the Kuzey Kıbrıs Kızılay (North Cyprus Red Crescent) and continues to contribute significantly to various charitable initiatives across the TRNC.

We possess comprehensive knowledge of the regulatory framework governing charities and associations in Northern Cyprus, including the significant amendments introduced by the 2016 Associations Law, which required many civil society organisations to revise and update their constitutional rules.
